Tips for Enterprise Pod cast
The term "podcasting" was first used in 2004, and since then, it has absolutely taken off. Podcasting companies are now starting up. Having now largely been taken over by the private sector, corporations are starting to see a use for podcasting. These newly risen podcasting companies are ready to meet the challenge of providing expertise to help corporations make their own technology podcast, or other kinds of communications. Here is an overview of what is taking place.
What Is Corporate Podcasting?
In the past corporations would have frequent needs to meet with various employees semi-regularly depending on the project, training, or for what ever it was they were trying to accomplish. Communications were desperately necessary, but were limited to phone calls, phone messages, HTML messages, emails, etc. Now, however, the new means of corporate podcasting has given corporations, large and small, a new, more efficient way of getting their message across.
Podcasting allows messages to be recorded, with voice and picture - if desired, and the ability to put it into the hands of those who need it. Here are some ways that it is being used now.
Advertising
The first blog by any major corporation was put out by GM's North America President, Gary Cowger. On the podcast, he merely introduced the new Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne luxury sedans, at the Auto Show in Chicago. This podcast is still being evaluated by the public, but, being that it went to the top - GM, it will surely be followed by others.
News
While other magazines, newspapers, and other media are still thinking about it, one major media player has been using podcasts to bring you the news - at least some of it. The New York Times now has at least 18 different video podcasts that it puts out.
Training
Training is always a big problem in corporations - namely, how to give your employees, or staff the training they need without hurting your work force while they take time off for that training. The solution - business podcasts that allows the training to be done at the employees' desire. The podcasts can be listened to while commuting, taking a walk, on the treadmill, etc. Done right, it can be very effective, but is limited to training that can be done by listening only - no hands on experience given.
Communication
This is another need for the corporation - when you don't have time to call a meeting. Simply record a podcast, make it known to those concerned and allow them later to log on and get the podcasts they need. This means may meet the demand for podcast project management in your corporation.
