Benefits of Teens and Kids Podcast
There can be a lot of benefit to kids and teens by allowing them to listen to various podcasts. They are, however, as varied in quality and themes as the Internet itself - so it needs a conscientious parent to be selective in the podcasts that are to be listened to.
A number of podcasts for teens are definitely borderline material - in the way of being questionable, and sometimes it can just be plain raunchy. It would be good for them, if they do not already know how to draw a line between what is good, and what is not.
With many great potential podcasts, both that are educational, and entertaining, there is a possibility here in the life of your child. They can also be involved in making their own podcasts, with your help, and putting on your own program. This would be both enjoyable for them, and fun, and even educational about how to put together a program, and get feedback on the ratings.
How to Find Quality Podcasts for Kids
In looking for sites that have quality and kid friendly podcasts you will need to do a little work. Sites that offer kids podcast will nearly also offer just about everything else. Even iTunes, one of the most popular sites for downloading music podcasts, does not have a children's page that is separate from the rest.

There is a little something to be concerned about here, though. Apparently, there is not any demand to give a rating to podcasts, yet. So, many of the children podcast may be mixed in with the other non-kids podcasts. Some websites do encourage others to listen to podcasts and give it a rating - but that is totally subjective. A lack of control simply means that you need to be careful.
By doing a search, though, you should be able to find a number of websites that will guide you to some web sites that will offer some suggestions about where to go, as well as give you good advice about how to determine, or avoid, certain types of podcasts. So, when looking for podcasts for teens and your children podcast - be careful - for your children's sakes.
